About the University
Vignan’s University is deemed to be University accredited as ‘A‘Grade by NAAC. Students seek Vignan’s University to obtain quality technical education in a serene environment. Vignan’s University is an offshoot descended in the year 2009 from Vignan’s group of institutions widely promoted and encouraged by its stakeholders and spread across two states in India i.e., Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
About the Departments of Biotechnology and Information Technology
Department of Biotechnology is one among 11 departments started in the year 2006 in erstwhile Vignan’s Engineering College affiliated to JNTU (K). Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi recognised the Department of Biotechnology, Vignan’s University as a potential centre for research & learning and identified under their program namely FIST. DST FAST track and Major Research Projects were awarded to its faculty.
The faculty are specialized in the areas of Bioinformatics, Environmental Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemical Reaction Engineering, Genetic Engineering, etc. The facilities such as Animal Cell Culture Facility, Plant Tissue Culture Facility, Bioprocess Facility, Networking Facility and Instrumentation Facility are nurtured in the department for students and scholars to unfold their project themes. Research activities are justified by a good number of articles published by faculty in SCI, SCI-E and SCOPUS indexed Journals and Conferences.
The department organizes Short Term Training Programs, INSPIRE Science Camp, DBT STTP, international conferences and Biotech-Industry Awareness Programs on a regular basis and is exposed widely to the technical realm. Students are encouraged to carry out mini research projects using extensive infrastructure facilities available in the department and present their findings in the symposia and conferences. Industrial Training programme under the scheme of Internship embedded in the curriculum facilitates students to get hands-on experience. Department of Biotechnology offers the following UG and PG programmes: B.Tech (Biotechnology), B.Tech (Bioinformatics), M.Tech (Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering) and Ph.D.
The Department of Information Technology has a potential for research with 2 SEED projects from Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi. The faculty are specialized in areas of Software Engineering, Computer Networks Information Security, Cloud Computing and Big Data Analytics. The Department offers UG and PG programmes: B.Tech (IT), BCA, MCA and Ph.D programme in Computer applications.
